Poshmark Review: Seller’s Perspective

 

 

Having been on poshmark for a while now I have learned a few things from selling clothes of my own, clothes that I have thrifted and clothes that I have bought wholesale to sell in my boutique.

Pros of Selling on Poshmark:

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY

• It is super easy and simple way to make money and get rid of your new or gently used clothing that you don’t wear

• Make profit from thrifting and from the boutique

BUSY BUSINESS

• You learn business strategies and skills that you might not learn anywhere else

BE YOUR OWN BOSS

• You are your own boss= You become an entrepreneur

• You decide; what your prices are, what you sell, how you sell it, who you sell it to, etc.

WORK HARD, PLAY HARD

• If you work hard enough on it, you can be extremely successful(open your own business) and even make a living off of it

COMMUNITY

• It is an amazing community atmosphere

• Even though there might be a few people that are not so friendly 98% of the users are extremely friendly

FRIENDSHIPS

•You make friends even if you don’t go to the Poshmark events

Cons:

NOT EVERYTHING WILL OR CAN SELL

• Not all brands and styles sell

• Everyone has their own opinion on what is consider

PROBLEMATIC BUYERS

Luckily they aren’t too common on the app, but unfortunately, everyone will deal with at least one problematic buyer

• You can’t please everyone.

• Be sure to ship within a timely fashion and describe your item and any and all potential flaws it may have.

• Sometimes you will have incidents where you receive a low rating, which trust me can be extremely frustrating(especially when they don’t say why/leave a comment about the issue) If you did everything you were supposed to, and didn’t lie to anyone no matter what, you did nothing wrong. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

YOU DON’T GET 100% OF WHAT YOU MAKE

• Poshmark takes a $2.95 commission on every item under $15 you sell, and 20% of anything you sell over $15. This can make it difficult for sellers to be willing to accept and lower prices

” MAKE AN OFFER” BUTTON

• Not everyone will agree with your prices. However, there is nothing worst than when someone makes you an offer for 50% of what the item costs. Seriously, it’s plain disrespectful and rude, and I will not sell to buyers like that

• The button is there, use it wisely

DEPENDING ON THE POSTAL SERVICE

• You are partially dependent on USPS, and so is your reputation.

• When you drop that package off to be mailed, you are trusting that the package will arrive safely in your buyer’s hands.(which can be a scary thought sometimesSometimes this isn’t the

• Perhaps your package is damaged, accidentally knocked out of a mail van, stolen at some point, etc. I always make sure to tape my package a lot, to try and protect it the best that I can, and I always keep tabs on it using USPS tracking-remember, if it doesn’t get to your buyer, you don’t have the item anymore, and you don’t get the money.

• Make sure you see the person scan your package so you know that they won’t be the one to steal because there has been very few cases like that.
