A note from Gail Marie Roesinger, owner of Basket of Gold…

Feng shui has come into my life an empowered me in awe-inspiring ways. I've always been interested in the concept of feng shui, and have been reading about it for years. Last April I went to school and became certified as a feng shui practitioner. I also joined the International Feng Shui Guild, which is a wonderful teaching network. After feng shuiing my own home, all of the objectives and goals that I set out to achieve are being realized. My home feels different now, better. It feels like it is embracing me, nurturing me, supporting me.

Feng Shui (fung shway) is an ancient Chinese art. It has to do with the placement of furniture to achieve optimum chi (energy) flow. The school of feng shui that I study is Tibetan Black Hat. It uses the Bagua (bagwa) map. This map is laid over your to-scale floor plan. Each area of your home corresponds to a different area of your life; your Journey or Career, your Health, your Fame, your Wisdom and Knowledge, your Family and Ancestors, your Intimate Relations, your Children & Creativity and your Helpful People. Before I come to your home for a consultation, I ask you to do three things:

  1. Make a to-scale floor plan and fax it to me.
  2. Make a list of 2-5 objectives… areas of your life where you would like to see change and improvement.
  3. Fill out a questionnaire to see where your personality lies with regard to the Five Elements.
Using feng shui cures, we will work to achieve balance of yin and yang using the five elements… Wood, Fire, Earth, Water and Metal. Your personality traits make you stronger in some elements than others. For instance, if you are a real go-getter entrepreneur type, you would probably score very high in wood. If you are the type who has family pictures all over your home, and you keep scrapbooks and journals you are probably high in earth. If you are super organized you are high in metal.

Sometimes, you can be off balance, very strong in one element and have zero or negative strength in another… we can work with your environment to bring balance into your life. The shifts that clients, friends and myself have realized by bringing in a balance have been phenomenal.

I like to work with what you have and often (if you are willing) move furniture while I am with you, so that a shift is felt immediately. I suggest inexpensive cures such as colored candles, wind chimes, fountains, plants or crystals placed in strategic areas to enliven stagnant chi. I also have a real eye for color and will help you choose paint colors to enhance your feng shui.

A typical consultation is an hour and a half and includes two follow-up phone calls and costs $150. For a home around 2000 sq ft this is always sufficient time to get you well on your way to a more balanced and harmonic atmosphere.

Please give me a call and we will indulge in some lofty play.

Namaste',
Gail Marie
